Burberry Prorsum, Menswear, SS14, London.
It was all about the sophisticated use of colour at the recent Burberry Prorsum Menswear show where the theme of “Writers and Painters” produced a rich palette of vibrant colours and chalky pastels.
The palette played well with the slouchy overcoats and relaxed tailoring of the collection. The silhouette was often oversized on top with dropped shoulders and slouchy sleeves and this was balanced by the slightly slimmer and cropped length of the trousers. There were also some nice simple details such as square patch pockets that helped to give reference to the detailing of an artist’s smock.
There was also a playful use of prints throughout the collection with carefully placed polka dots and stripes used in shirting and accessories such as soft scarves.
